# Configuration and Currency Services

Services to read the configuration and the currency, and to check paid checkout sessions

These services can be found within the namespace `UmbCheckout.Core.Interfaces`. Inject them where you need them.

### IConfigurationService

Reads and saves the UmbCheckout [configuration](/v17/core-services/object-reference/umbcheckoutconfiguration.md). The configuration is cached; saving clears the cache on every server.

```csharp
Task<UmbCheckoutConfiguration?> GetConfigurationAsync(CancellationToken cancellationToken = default);
Task<bool> UpdateConfigurationAsync(UmbCheckoutConfiguration configuration, CancellationToken cancellationToken = default);
```

`GetConfigurationAsync` returns `null` until the configuration has been saved once. With the Addons package installed, an unlicensed site's Basket storage settings always read as off.

### ICurrencyService

Works out currencies on the server (see [Currency](/v17/getting-started/configuration.md#currency)).

```csharp
// The currency a product is sold in: its site root's umbCheckoutCurrencyCode, else the fallback currency.
// Null (and an error logged) when neither is set.
Task<string?> GetCurrencyForContentAsync(IPublishedContent content);
// The currency to display: the node's (or the current page's site root's) umbCheckoutCurrencyCode,
// else the fallback currency, else the current UI culture's currency.
Task<string> GetCurrencyAsync(Guid? currencyNodeKey = null);
```

### IBasketContext

The site root culture and currency of the current page, which pick the shopper's Basket.

```csharp
string? SiteRootCulture { get; }
Task<string?> GetCurrencyAsync();
```

### IPaidCheckoutSessions

Answers whether a checkout session has been paid. UmbCheckout.Stripe registers one backed by the webhook's records; register your own to replace it.

```csharp
Task<bool> IsPaidAsync(string checkoutSessionId, CancellationToken cancellationToken = default);
```

Each of these services' async methods also has an overload that takes a `CancellationToken` (see [Cancellation Tokens](/v17/core-services/cancellation-tokens.md)).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.umbcheckout.net/v17/core-services/configuration-and-currency-services.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
